How KWP Started
Kids With Purpose started at a northern Virginia church. The founders' vision was to
empower their children to grow in faith through service to others to become the kind of
Christian God calls us to be. To provide children with opportunity to learn how to apply and
live by God's Word, an after-school children’s service program was offered. The program
challenged kids aged 3 years through 5th grade to become active servants for Christ by
performing simple acts of Christian service in their local community.
The 24-week program was a transformational experience for the children and adult
volunteers alike. Within three short years, the program grew quickly from 30 to 100+
children attending weekly and even received the Loudoun County Outstanding Volunteer
Award for Youth Service.
Encouraged by interest from other churches, the founders developed a curriculum that
supplies everything a church needs – except for volunteers – to implement a children’s
service program.
Since then, the KWP program is spreading quickly to churches and denominations
throughout the US.

dedicated volunteer staff who often work
out of coffee shops.
They have volunteered hundreds and
hundreds of hours putting together the
various KWP programs and are driven
with one purpose in mind.
