“When KWP initially started at FUMC, the children wanted to do an ‘extra’ project so that they too could have
something to take home. However after a few weeks, the children ‘got it’. They were no longer asking for ‘extras’
for themselves but wanting to do more for others.
Another eye-opener for our children is that the curriculum led into discussions about how many families have to
choose between warmth and food, water and electricity, between warmth and medicine, food and medicine, or
between food and clothes. This was a concept that our children had not realized even existed. They actually sat
there with their mouths open and with tears in their sweet eyes. Without hesitation, I can say that our children
can not imagine coming home to a dark house or turning on the faucet and there not be running water.”
